Anglican Parish of Kingsley North – Woodvale Church

New Product / Church

TSG was commissioned to create a set of new Art Glass creations for behind the alter, prayer room and a custom-made Fused Art Glass font with LED lighting to illuminate from underneath.

From the very outset of the first meeting the relationship with Gill, Belinda and Kim was special. They were all were very excited about creating this unique set of special symbolic pieces of Art Glass for the Church. Kim’s unique flair for creating stunning Art Glass creations sold the church on the fact they had the right guy and team to execute this project from beginning to end. “I love the challenge of large projects” Kim explains, and I love working with colour and more colour I love layering my works with multiple firings to create amazing kaleidoscopes of in-depth colour and texture. “It’s this love of colour that helped me to create these spiritual windows of Diversity and Hope. From the get-go, I was given free reign to be creative and work my colours in a meaningful way that kept to the Faith and understanding within the brief. My Mixing Palette of glass colours from the oceans deepest blues through to the new generation of growth in the greens and then onto the hope of the sun with yellows, oranges and reds. These windows for me, celebrate all that life is and can be. If you look closely, we also have added abstract fish swimming and diving through the elements representing abundance” Kim explains.

Apart from making these large feature art glass windows TSG also created a one off colourful custom Art Glass font. The same theme carried through to this amazing bowl of life and the LED lighting really helps to illuminate the creation for an amazing christening experience.

As a leading Art Glass studio in Australia, TSG specialise in all varieties of art styles and custom made designs to suit specifically what their customers requirements may be. Whether its commercial or a private residence that wants something completely unique and one off for them, you can be rest assured the team at TSG will work tirelessly to create an amazing illuminated Art Glass feature for an existing window or a feature on a specific wall, being inside or out, they have all the know how to facilitate your request.

All the team at TSG would like to thank the Kingsley Parish for allowing us the honour of working and creating this amazing Art Glass works and hope Belinda is now looking down admiring all the efforts she made in making the project a reality. Both Gill and Belinda were amazing to work with and both put so much time and effort into collaborating their thoughts and visions with us. This made the whole process so much easier to interpret what they wanted to convey on behalf of the Church.

Thanks again and from all the team at TSG! We wish you many years of enjoyment from the inspirational windows of life.

Cast Studio Architects Leadlight Door Restoration

Restoration / Commercial

TSG was recently commissioned to fully restore these leadlights as they were falling apart and were in need of some TLC.

We not only stripped them down and acid dipped them and high pressure washed the glass but we also altered the design and included internal and external steel reinforcing rods to help with strength and durability.

The client was very happy with the finish product and the efficiency of our team at TSG.

Our Lady Queen of the Apostles

New Product / Church

Tradition Stained Glass were contracted to create a stained glass artwork around a fixed cross of Jesus in the Our Lady Queen of the Apostles church in Riverton a suburb in Perth's south.

The cross was mounted on a wall clad in stone at the front of the church.

Glass artist, Kim immediately saw the opportunity to reinvent stained glass within the church environment utilising LED technology to illuminate the glass.

Kim engaged the talented craftsman at Cockburn joinery to create a circular solid Jarrah frame that needed to fit to the mm around the cross of Jesus in order to act as housing for the LED lighting system. Kim then drew inspiration from stained glass art created by his grandfather in Holland many years ago to design a stunning spray of multi-coloured glass radiating out from Jesus that would enhance the cross in a subtle way by using pastel mouth blown antique glass combined with multi-layered hand painted kiln fired glass elements.

Where once was a plain wall behind the cross of Jesus, is now a spectacular artwork that draws the eye from the pulpit up toward Jesus and can be dimmed or brightened at the press of a button as the priest sees fit for the occasion.

StAlbans

Restoration / Church

TSG recently finished a large restoration project St Albans Church, Highgate, Western Australia. This historic parish had the first Foundation stone laid in 1889 and was designed by the famous Architect and war soldier Talbot Hobbs.

These original stained glass windows where in dire need of attention and we were commissioned to undertake this historic restoration by Heritage Perth. The three windows had to be carefully removed from the stone work section by section and then carefully removed from site and transported to our studio for a complete restoration service.

This included new matching glass colours and textures and also many repainted and kiln fired glass segments. Once all glass pieces were replaced and repainted etc we then fully re leaded and reinforced the windows and then re cemented or re puttied the windows to strengthen and weather proof them.

Once the windows were hardened and had cured in our studio we then polished and cleaned them thoroughly and re attached all the new copper wires for new strengthening rods to be mounted into the stone work on installation. All windows where reinstalled and re rendered back in to stone work and the completed project was a total success along with being on budget and ahead on time.

The Sand Castle City Beach

Restoration / Residential

This iconic home is in a class all its own and stands out well from the crowd. This magnificent home was the brain child of owner Tani Richards and this project took many years of blood sweat and tears to create. TSG was lucky enough to be involved in restoring a 13 century ecclesiastical stained glass window that the client purchased while travelling through France. We also did many custom bevelled leadlights throughout this home to create privacy screens from the close neighbour’s boundaries.
